La Crosse, WI — Today, Rep. Ron Kind announced that University of Wisconsin-Platteville was selected to receive a $70,000 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). This EDA investment will fund the first year of a five-year University Center Economic Development Program.
The University Center Economic Development Program at UW-Platteville will help provide local entrepreneurs, leaders, and businesses with the support and tools they need to promote long-term regional competitiveness and economic diversification.
“It’s great to see UW-Platteville receive this well-deserved grant for the University Center Economic Development Program. I applaud the hard work of everyone involved in this program to invest in our communities and support our local economies, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact of this federal funding in Southwestern Wisconsin,” said Rep. Ron Kind.
“At the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, we are ardent believers in being Stewards of Place; that is to not only have a responsibility to our students but also to our greater community. This IDEA grant will help fulfill that mission to the betterment of Southwest Wisconsin and beyond. We have already seen how well this collaborative partnership works and the enormous potential that lies ahead,” said UW-Platteville Vice Chancellor of University Relations Rose Smyrski.
