Tootl of Milwaukee: Aims to Solve Special Needs Transportation Issues

MILWAUKEE — A fleet of vehicles featuring a bright orange Tootl sign – along with friendly, caring drivers transporting people with mobility and cognitive challenges – will soon be a common site around the greater Milwaukee area.

After operating successfully in Chicago for over eight years, Tootl (formerly known as Special Needs Chicago) has decided to expand to new markets where quality wheelchair accessible transportation services are in high demand, including southeast Wisconsin.

The immediate expansion of Tootl in the Milwaukee region comes as especially positive news to seniors, wheelchair-users or anyone with temporary or chronic mobility or cognitive challenges who require specially equipped vehicles and professionally trained drivers to get them safely to their destinations.

“Whether you need a ride for yourself, for a family member or loved one, or, you are an organization seeking to transport a client, patient or resident – Tootl gladly accepts your challenge,” said Michelle Dacy, president and founder. “Our process is simple and seamless. Our staff and drivers are professional and respectful. We take all the stress away so you, your loved one or client can safely `Tootl’ home from the hospital, or get to doctor appointments, rehabilitation sessions, school, family gatherings and more.”

Dacy has worked coordinating rides for the special needs population for nearly 20 years. After caring for her own elderly grandmother, Dacy became disturbed by poor customer service and a lack of compassion among special needs transportation providers. In 2012, she launched her own transportation company serving the elderly and people with mobility and cognitive challenges in the Chicagoland area – vowing to always prioritize kindness and customer service over sales volume. In 2020, with the help of a close friend and her business advisors, Michelle renamed the company to Tootl, with a goal to bring the same level of thoughtful service to other parts of the country.”

“Quality of service and compassion are the two main reasons our corporate clients and private riders kept coming back to us, which is why we were eager to bring that level of exemplary service to new markets like Milwaukee,” Dacy said. “Tootl treats passengers with courtesy and dignity. We take additional steps such as reminder calls, written correspondence, and moving at a comfortable pace that puts our passengers and their families at ease, knowing their loved one’s care is in good hands.”

Those wanting to use the service have no application process, no waiting period and do not have to provide medical authorization. For more information, visitwww.ridetootl.com/milwaukee, call (414) 376-2222 or email at milwaukee@ridetootl.com.
