TIGERTON, Wis. – Like many health systems across the country, ThedaCare continues to make plans and adjustments to best serve our communities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March, ThedaCare made necessary changes to our operations and services to devote available resources to serve the health needs of our community.
“During the early weeks of the pandemic, select clinics were either temporarily closed, repurposed or transitioned to appointment only to ensure the safety of our patients and team members,” said Dr. Jasmine Wiley, who provides care at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano, ThedaCare Physicians-Clintonville and ThedaCare Family Medicine-Tigerton. “Because of our team’s tireless work, we have multiple safeguards in place to manage our community’s health needs, and can continue our phased reopening plans to expand services.”
As a result of the dedication to the communities served, ThedaCare is pleased to announce that ThedaCare Family Medicine-Tigerton will reopen on January 18, 2021. The clinic is located at 110 Cedar Street Tigerton, WI 54486. Services offered at the clinic include family medicine, lab, x-ray, OB care and minor surgical procedures. The Primary Care Team includes Margaret Anderson, APNP, and Jasmine Wiley, MD.
The clinic is located in the historic Swanke Mansion, which is owned by Tigerton Clinic Inc. (TCI), a community owned 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization was formed more than 70 years ago as the Tigerton Cooperative Hospital with the goal of ensuring that health care services are provided in the community. ThedaCare leases the clinic space in the mansion.
“Many of the patients who receive care at the Tigerton Clinic have done so for many years,” said Margaret Anderson, APNP. “The clinic is like a tight knit community or family in itself, where our team members know patients and families extremely well, and vice versa. They enjoy getting to visit with each other.”
Restoration and Renovations to the Swanke Mansion
During the time of the clinic closure, TCI used the opportunity to make significant updates to the aging electrical and plumbing systems in the 100-year-old mansion.
Restorations and renovations included:
- Adding a handicap ramp at the back entrance and removing the existing elevator
- Removing carpet from clinic areas and adding new vinyl flooring
- Restoring the original cork and tile floors
- Restoring the original first floor room layouts in the original mansion
- Restoring paint in the mansion to original colors
The restoration work and renovations are being funded by TCI. ThedaCare team members also lifted a hand (and hammer) to assist with renovations.
“We feel proud to help with this project, it means so much to us,” said Dr. Wiley. “Not only are we helping to preserve the amazing history of this property, but we are fortunate to be able to provide care for community member’s here. Many of our patients can remember when this mansion was a home. They also had family members who received care or were born here when it was a hospital.”
Dr. Wiley, as well as the other clinic staff, have worked to remove tile, glue, carpet and more throughout the project. “We are excited to be open and once again providing care for the people in the Tigerton area,” said Anderson. “We have truly missed being here.”
Dr. Wiley echoed those sentiments.
“Access to high quality health care is critical, especially in rural areas,” she said. “Being open again allows us to provide that care for our patients, close to home. By preserving the legacy of this building that is such an important part of the Tigerton community brings our care team even closer to our patients and families.”
To help protect patients and providers alike, enhanced safety protocols are in place for all ThedaCare facilities, including visitor restrictions and check-in screenings. Anyone presenting respiratory symptoms is safely isolated and COVID-19 patients receive care in our dedicated respiratory hub clinics.
