MADISON, Wis. — For over a decade, Summit Credit Union has been the #1 Mortgage Lender in Dane County. Now, according to new data collected under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), the member-owned financial cooperative has become the top mortgage lender in the state of Wisconsin by funding the most home loans statewide in 2020.

“We’re proud to be the #1 home lender in the state of Wisconsin,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “What’s so rewarding is that we have been able to help thousands of members buy their first home, finance their move to a new home, make home improvements or simply save thousands on their mortgage payments by refinancing. That’s really what we’re all about at Summit – helping people own their financial future. For us, it’s not about being the biggest in terms of dollars lent out, it’s about helping the most people.”

Data was collected under the HMDA, a federal law requiring annual disclosure of mortgage data by financial institutions and reported by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).*

Summit provides mortgages and Home Equity Loans and Lines of Credit (HELOCs) throughout Wisconsin. The financial cooperative offers access to Mortgage Loan Officers at its 44 branch locations, online and via video appointments, maximizing convenience and offering greater flexibility to members.
