St. Norbert College: Honors Bridgit Martin

De Pere, Wis.: The St. Norbert College community honored Bridgit Martin, director of multicultural student services, with the Exceptional Service Award.

Martin has exhibited service above and beyond in the St. Norbert College community and communities off-campus. She has been known as a mentor and advocate for students of color on campus for decades. In her work, she illustrates leadership along with a commitment to making our campus a better place where all persons of color truly experience a deep sense of belonging. Within the St. Norbert College community, she is a member of the college’s committee on equity, diversity and inclusion; she also has a persistent voice for justice and inclusion within her role in the student affairs division.  Outside the St. Norbert College community, she worked with higher education leaders in planning a commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to promote respect and inclusion within the city of De Pere.

Her nomination states: “She is relentless in her mission to support Black, Indigenous, People of Color students at St. Norbert College and stands firmly in the mission of multicultural student services along with the core values of St. Norbert College, those grounded in communio.”

The Exceptional Service Award is given annually to a staff employee (hourly or salaried) for service above and beyond normal work expectations. Nominations are submitted by St. Norbert College faculty and staff.
