Dec. 09, 2021—Evansville, Wis. – Retirement Income Strategies, a Wisconsin-based financial planning firm with locations in Brookfield, Evansville, Madison and Middleton, hosts Toys for Tacos, a holiday toy drive, benefitting AWARE’s Toys for Evansville program on Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Individuals who participate in the event can enjoy a taco meal provided by Senor Peppers and mix and mingle with Retirement Income Strategies staff, AWARE members and other guests. The event will be held at Retirement Income Strategies’ Evansville location (7 E. Main Street, Suite 6).
Due to supply chain issues and product shortages, Retirement Income Strategies and AWARE request that, rather than donate an unwrapped toy, individuals who want to participate can donate a cash gift or check payable to AWARE. The nonprofit is working with families in need and will purchase gift cards so kids can either receive the toy or gift they wish for, and should that gift not be available, parents can provide a second choice that they know their child will be excited to receive this holiday.
“Even before the pandemic, over one-third of Evansville residents struggled to provide the essentials for their families. Collaborating with AWARE each year on ‘Toys for Tacos’ has been a fun way to provide a magical holiday that our local children can look forward to and make giving back to the community easy for those who want to participate,” said Kristian Finfrock, founder and financial advisor at Retirement Income Strategies. “It’s an incredible feeling to assist those in need, but particularly when it has a direct impact on your community and neighbors. I believe that is why the community is so generous with their support, and we hope they continue to support this year’s Toys for Tacos event.”
AWARE provides services throughout the year to struggling families, seniors and disabled adults who reside within the Evansville School District limits. Toys for Tacos is one component of AWARE’s Toys for Evansville holiday charity event. AWARE also have holiday trees interspersed throughout the city of Evansville decorated with ornaments that contain a gift wish of a specific underprivileged child. Each year, AWARE supplies anywhere from 150-200 babies, kids, and teenagers up to 18 years of age with holiday gifts through its Toys for Evansville program.
“The holidays can be a stressful time for families with limited resources, but the pandemic has made it even more of a struggle for some families. We appreciate Retirement Income Strategies for hosting Toys for Tacos to help families in need have a brighter holiday,” said Julie Hermanson, program manager at AWARE. “It’s all about helping our neighbors provide a magical holiday for their children. Kids know money is tight at home, so when they wake up Christmas morning to their gifts, they are ecstatic!”
