Public Relations Society of America: Entries open for PRSA’s inaugural WisCOMsin Awards

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Jan. 29, 2021) – The Madison and Northeast Wisconsin chapters of the Public Relations Society of America are collaborating to hold a first-ever PRSA state awards program for Wisconsin in 2021.

Entries are open for the new WisCOMsin Awards, which will be a virtual program on April 27 to honor the top communications, public relations and marketing work by professionals during 2020. The WisCOMsin Awards will include project-based state awards as well as special individual honors specific to each chapter.

Information about this year’s awards, including the award categories and nomination process, is available at prsanewis.org/Awards. The first entry deadline is Feb. 28, and the final deadline for all entries is March 7.

The WisCOMsin Awards replaces the Northeast Wisconsin Chapter’s PRemier Awards, which had been held the last 11 years.

The chapter, which covers Northeast and Central Wisconsin, held its modified 2020 PRemier Awards virtually at the end of the year. The following awards were bestowed for communications excellence:

  • Communicator of the Year — Lori Blakeslee, director of communications and public relations for the Green Bay Area Public School District
  • Young Professionals of the Year — Chloe Albrecht, public relations manager at Element; and Monica Salmeri, communications specialist at Fincantieri Marine Group
  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Jim Streed, owner of J Streed Communications
