Brookfield, Wis. – North Shore Bank today announced that along with partners Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southeastern Wisconsin, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and Milwaukee Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), its Latino revolving loan fund project has been named the Nonprofit Collaboration of the Year at the 2021 BizTimes Milwaukee Nonprofit Excellence Awards.
The Latino Revolving Loan Fund was started in 2021 to address the needs of small businesses in the Latino community in Southeastern Wisconsin. The revolving loan fund provides financial support and loan access to small businesses looking to grow or expand, but that otherwise may not qualify for commercial loans.
“Our partners have worked tirelessly on their commitment to better the opportunities for the Latino community in the area and we’re honored that BizTimes has recognized the project with this award,” said Margaret Capper, senior vice president of commercial banking for North Shore Bank.
The 2021 BizTimes Milwaukee Nonprofit Excellence Awards were the eighth annual program and honors top area nonprofit organizations for their work in the community and private individuals and businesses that support area nonprofits. According to BizTimes, the Collaboration of the Year award category recognizes a collaborative project that encompasses developed collaborative relationships with other nonprofit organizations, engagement of multiple stakeholders within the community being served and innovation in approaching a community problem or issue, while leveraging these relationships to make a meaningful impact in the community.
