Main Street Alliance: Applauds Gov. Evers investments in Wisconsin workers

July 14th, 2021 – On today’s announcement by Governor Evers of $130 million in Workforce Solutions for Wisconsin.

Main Street Alliance and our 100+ Member Businesses in Wisconsin are thrilled that Gov. Evers has announced robust investments to address workforce challenges and opportunities in Wisconsin.

Evan Dannells, owner of Cadre Restaurant in Madison, had this to say:

“This has been a hard year but we’ve never had to worry about whether or not Gov. Evers had our back. From the “We’re All In” grants to Wisconsin Tomorrow to other critical investments we know he’s been looking out for Main Street. While groups like the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Association want to blame enhanced unemployment insurance for the current workforce shortages…I can tell you first hand that it’s much more complicated than that.”

“The fact is we need to be in a position to make hospitality and service industry work a career, not just a job. That will require investments in childcare, healthcare and skills training so we have folks ready on day 1. We also need better transportation infrastructure to better match jobs with the people who want them. We need less talk and more action and that’s why I am so grateful that the Governor is working to help us get back firmly on our feet.”
