IMPROV: Searching for up and coming local talent

Town of Brookfield, Wis. – With a month until Milwaukee Improv opens its doors to the public, the comedy venue is putting out a call for community comics. Improv is aiming to staff its first Wisconsin location with funny fanatics and humor enthusiasts for positions ranging from hosts and servers to line cooks and dish washers.

“Some of the funniest and most successful comedians to date started as bartenders and food runners at their local comedy clubs, and we want to find like-minded individuals, who appreciate the stand-up space, to join our Improv family,” said Jayk Burczyk, general manager at Milwaukee Improv. “At Improv, fostering up and coming comedians is a huge part of our mission and we can’t wait to grow with our local talent in the area.”

Milwaukee Improv will be hiring approximately sixty positions to service its 13,049-square-foot, 400-seat venue. Jobs available include door hosts, box office attendants, AV technicians, servers, bartenders, food and drinks runners, line cooks and dish washers. The venue will host a job fair at the new location on July 30, 31, and Aug. 1 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Those interested in applying directly can email their resume to recruiting@levitylive.com.

In addition to staff hiring, Improv is searching for local comedians to perform during showcases and upcoming open mic nights, which will begin in the late fall. Interested local comics are invited to submit links to 5 – 10 minutes of their own stand-up comedy material to katie@improv.com to be considered.

Improv will open to the public beginning Friday, Aug. 20. The venue has announced comedians through the beginning of December, with a number of old-school classic comedians, favorite actors and developmental comics, including Bob Saget, Melissa Villaseñor, D.L. Hughley, Tim Dillon, Anjelah Johnson, Moses Storm and more. To see the full list of comedians and to purchase tickets visit www.milwaukeeimprov.com.
