(Milwaukee, WI) The Haggerty Museum of Art will present the Kairos Award to Sculpture Milwaukee and the Patricia B. Apple Award to Betty Arndt during an evening celebration held at the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 6 to 9 p.m. Sponsorships including tables of eight, as well as individual tickets beginning at $125 per person, are now available. The Haggerty Awards Dinner is chaired by Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art Board Member Carrie Matteson.
About the Awards
The Kairos Award recognizes exceptional achievements in the arts—including the advancement of the arts—through activities at Marquette University and beyond. The Greek word “kairos,” which means “the creative moment in time,” has been chosen to symbolize the spirit of this award. The Patricia B. Apple Award recognizes individuals whose service has made a lasting impact on the Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art. The award is named for Patricia B. Apple, chair of the fundraising campaign to build the Haggerty Museum of Art and inaugural president of Marquette University’s Women’s Council.

Kairos Award 2021
Sculpture Milwaukee is an urban public art exhibition perched on the shores of Lake Michigan and extending into the heart of downtown. It leverages one of the finest and most unique public art exhibitions in the world to engage an incredibly diverse set of audiences in myriad ways. From global art aficionados to downtown employees, from suburbanites to tourists to Milwaukee residents, Sculpture Milwaukee balances a universal brand with nuanced messaging and engagement opportunities that invite individuals from all audiences to interact with art and the environment in which it resides. Now in its fifth year, Sculpture Milwaukee has become a vibrant component of downtown Milwaukee, and a powerful example of the impact that public art can have on an entire community. Sculpture Milwaukee was the vision of Marcus Corporation Chairman Stephen Marcus, whose passion for public art and Milwaukee continues to drive the project. Dynamic partnerships with Milwaukee Downtown BID 21, the city of Milwaukee, and countless individuals and community groups ensure a world-class exhibition each year. The organization is led by Executive Director Brian Schupper and governed by a twenty-three-member Board of Directors chaired by Wayne Morgan.
Betty Arndt
Patricia B. Apple Award 2021
Marquette University alumnus Betty Arndt is a former Vice President of Global Communications for Johnson Controls and a longtime community volunteer and philanthropist in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. She is a past President and current member of the board of the Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art. Betty has chaired numerous committees for the Friends of the Haggerty, served as co-chair of two successful Haggerty Galas, served on the Museum’s Strategic Planning and Branding committees, and was selected to serve on Marquette University’s Search Committee for the Haggerty Museum of Art’s Director and Chief Curator. Betty also currently serves on the boards of ProHealth Care, the Wisconsin Executive Residence Foundation, and Marquette University’s Women’s Council. She is a founding member of the Waukesha County Women and Girls’ Fund, a past chairman of the Waukesha County Community Foundation Board, and past board member of the Skylight Theatre, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, and the Waukesha County Women and Girls Fund—where she received the Women of Distinction Award. In 2018 Betty was recognized as one of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Women of Influence.
