Fox Cities Chamber: Public policy series returns in person Aug. 18

FOX CITIES, Wis. (July 20 2021) – The third event in the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce’s 2021 Public Policy Series is set for Wednesday, Aug. 18 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pullmans at Trolley Square in Appleton.

“Unraveling the Workforce Crisis” will feature Dennis Winters, chief economist for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, and Rep. Dave Armstrong of Wisconsin State Assembly District 75. Armstrong is also the executive director of the Barron County Economic Development Corporation.

The workforce shortage both statewide and in the Fox Cities is an issue that has dominated headlines and driven the mission of the Fox Cities Chamber throughout the year. Furthermore, recent decennial census data indicates flat population growth. This Aug. 18 event will aim to investigate population trends and their impact on our state and regional economies. Policy and programmatic solutions to the talent shortage will also be discussed.

“We’re very pleased to be returning the series to an in-person format just in time for this extremely important topic,” said Jayme Sellen, Fox Cities Chamber vice president for economic development and government affairs. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to share ideas, hear from experts, and have conversations that can move the needle and inspire action on the workforce issue.”

Cost to attend the lunch is $30/person – or $20/person for Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce members. Participants must register in advance on the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce website or by calling the Chamber at 920.734.7101.

The Public Policy Series, sponsored by AT&T, is a program of the Chamber of Commerce designed to educate, inform, and engage the Fox Cities community with local, state, and federal government officials and topics.
