Consolidated Construction Co., Inc: Recognized for construction excellence on three projects

MADISON, Wis. – Consolidated Construction Co., Inc., based in Appleton, is being recognized for its work on three of the most impressive and unique construction projects completed by a Wisconsin contractor in 2021.

The company received two Gold Projects of Distinction Awards and one Silver Projects of Distinction Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin.

Consolidated received a gold award for its work on the CopperStone Assisted Living and Memory Care Community in Fox Crossing, Wis. While COVID-19 brought most senior care construction projects to a halt, Consolidated Construction built a new facility using technology typically seen only in hospital surgical wards to create a property uniquely prepared to deal with pandemics, now and in the future.

Consolidated also received a gold award for the Sisseton-Wahpeton-Oyate (SWO) COVID-19 Integrated Projects on the Lake Traverse Reservation in Sisseton, S.D. This effort encompassed the fast-track construction of a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation facility, food pantry and daycare in conjunction with the federal government’s CARES funding program to address the impact of the COVID-19 event on tribal members.

The company earned a Silver Projects of Distinction Award for its work on the Heidel House Hotel and Conference Center renovations in Green Lake, Wis. For more than 70 years, Heidel House played a pivotal role in drawing thousands of tourists annually to Green Lake. When shuttered in 2019, the economic implications reverberated throughout the area. Bringing it back to life required class A demolition of the two main buildings. Consolidated was honored to return this legendary Wisconsin hospitality venue to its former glory and thrilled the area will benefit from having Heidel House help drive the region’s economic engine.

The Projects of Distinction Awards recognize construction projects that are built on merit and are judged by a panel of experts based on several criteria, including quality, owner satisfaction, unusual challenges, and safety. The awards will be presented at a Jan. 27, 2022, banquet at the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee.

“Projects of Distinction demonstrate the excellence in construction services by ABC of Wisconsin members,” said John Mielke, president of ABC of Wisconsin. “These unique projects are evaluated by a panel of architects, engineers and educators in the construction industry and allow Wisconsin’s merit contractors to demonstrate their professionalism, craftsmanship and safety.”
