The Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce: To facilitate Activate MKE during DNC week across the inner city of Milwaukee

The Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce (TWBCC) in collaboration with other community organizations is excited to host Activate MKE 2020. Activate MKE will be held during the 2020 Democratic National Convention in several Milwaukee County Parks located in the Central City communities August 17th through August 21st, 2020. We expect more than 20,000 visitors will participate in the Activate MKE experience.

Activate MKE was created to allow Milwaukee’s central city residents to be engaged and provided resources during an unprecedented time in the history of our nation and historic time in our city. Over the course of five days, attendees will have an opportunity to register to vote, receive food through various food pantries sponsored by our partner Feeding America, and receive COVID-19 testing. There will also be back to school backpack giveaways, infrastructure job fairs, community forums, sessions and opportunities for businesses to gain valuable exposure to diverse audiences by taking part in the vendor and resource marketplaces. There will be family friendly move and documentary screenings and a fundraising effort to support Feeding America of Wisconsin.

Activate MKE will be open from daily, Monday – Friday, from 10am to 12 Midnight. Activate MKE attendees will be diverse in age, socioeconomic status, and position in the community. All of these things make Activate MKE a unique high exposure, bridge building, and much needed community engagement opportunity.
