Road America: INDYCAR REV Group Grand Prix presented by AMR rescheduled to July 10-12 as doubleheader

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., May 21, 2020 – The stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES will return to Road America for an incredible doubleheader weekend, July 10-12, as the INDYCAR REV Group Grand Prix Presented by AMR will now host two races and two LIVE broadcasts on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 – networks and times are yet to be determined. The new weekend was unveiled today as part of INDYCAR’s updated 2020 schedule announcement.

“We’re set for a can’t-miss motorsports doubleheader at America’s National Park of Speed as we pay tribute to America’s First Responders, Police, Fire, and EMS at the REV Group Grand Prix Presented by AMR all weekend with FREE admission at the gate with valid ID,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s President and General Manager. “Our vast 640-acre outdoor facility is widely regarded as ‘the safest place to watch a race’ because fans are not dedicated to a seat and can roam freely around the property to find their favorite viewing location. We’ve also added more hand sanitizing stations while partnering with local brands such as Guy & O’Neill to supply us with disinfecting wipes for use in high-touch common areas, and CTECH Manufacturing to install polycarbonate sneeze guards at various locations. We also offer Print at Home ticketing, so fans can enjoy a contactless experience at the gates. Simply buy, print, scan, enter, and enjoy America’s National Park of Speed. Above all else, we appreciate everyone’s support and flexibility as we made schedule adjustments caused by COVID-19. We also extend our thanks to INDYCAR for embracing this new doubleheader schedule to give our fans and our frontline heroes a memorable experience that they have patiently been waiting for.”

All active-duty first responders will receive FREE entry to the REV Group Grand Prix presented by American Medical Response doubleheader weekend. First responders, including law enforcement, fire, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians, will be admitted free of charge by showing valid identification indicating active service in the form of a department-issued ID, badge, copies of certifications, or an active roster copy from their department on department letterhead. FREE admission must be redeemed at the gate and is only valid during the event weekend.

Fans are encouraged to follow safe practices at Road America, such as social distancing (maintaining six feet from others), frequent hand washing, or using one of the many new sanitizer stations located throughout the facility. Cloth face coverings are encouraged in areas where social distancing is difficult. For additional details on Road America’s Active Measures Against COVID-19, fans are encouraged to check out its website at www.roadamerica.com/covid-19

Road America’s vast 640-acre outdoor facility allows more than enough room for fans to spread out and watch many of their favorite INDYCAR drivers as they navigate the undulating 4-mile, 14-turn course. Come witness the power, pageantry, and picturesque landscapes of Road America, a track that is every bit as impressive as the cars and drivers in competition.

A full on-track schedule will be released soon. Tickets for the previous June 18-21 event dates will be honored and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets, campsites and other items early for the rescheduled July 10-12 REV Group Grand Prix presented by AMR double-header at www.roadamerica.com

With the newly available dates in June, Road America has also rescheduled the SVRA Vintage Weekend to June 18-21. The event originally scheduled to serve as the vintage kick-off of the Road America racing season in May was tabled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now with the rescheduling of the INDYCAR REV Group Grand Prix presented by AMR to July 10-12 as a special double-header, Road America found a home for SVRA to continue on Father’s Day weekend.

“Vintage Racing is important to Road America and we are delighted we were able to keep SVRA on our schedule this season,” said Mike Kertscher, Road America’s President and General Manager. “I am proud that everyone in motorsports is pitching in to make the best of a situation we absolutely did not want and could not have planned for. This was a perfect opportunity to get SVRA back and give all our fans another reason to take in Father’s Day at America’s National Park of Speed. Fans will also have the opportunity to watch the Blue Marble Radical Cup during the SVRA Vintage Weekend.”

Customers who have already purchased tickets, camping, or other items, for scheduled events may use those tickets and items for the new event dates. Anyone who chooses to transfer their purchase to another event may do so at this link: www.roadamerica.com/ticket-exchange

The rescheduled SVRA Vintage Weekend event will feature a packed schedule with races featuring cars covering several decades. Many of the entries have previously competed at classic events, including Le Mans and the Indy 500, where they were raced for the honor and glory of a gladiatorial sport.

“Road America is an important venue for our sport and as the economy opens, we are able to move forward with responsible precautions,” said Tony Parella, SVRA President and CEO and majority owner of the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli. “Our goal is to make SVRA and SpeedTour racing safer than going to the grocery store.”

As part of its commitment to honoring America’s veterans, Road America will also provide FREE admission to all active, reserve-duty military and veterans with ID during the SVRA Vintage Festival Weekend, June 18-21, at Road America.

Gates will open to the public each day at 7 a.m., Anyone 16-years-old and under are always FREE with a paying adult at the gate. All races will run rain or shine. A tentative event schedule for each event will be posted at www.roadamerica.com
