MPC: Wauwatosa Mayor headlines Newsmaker Lunch Hour

MILWAUKEE – Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride will be the featured guest at a virtual event set for noon on Tuesday, October 27. This Newsmaker Lunch Hour is presented by a partnership between the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com.

Wauwatosa has been the focal point of peaceful demonstrations as well as violence and vandalism in recent months after protesters took to the streets calling for justice for a 17-year-old who was shot and killed by a Wauwatosa police officer in February. Earlier this month, Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced that the officer, Joseph Mensah, who was cleared in two earlier fatal on-duty shootings, would not face criminal charges for the fatal shooting of Alvin Cole.

McBride, an attorney who served on the city’s common council for ten years, including four as president, was elected mayor in April. He will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience during the program, moderated by Milwaukee Press Club President Corrinne Hess, reporter for Wisconsin Public Radio.

The panel:
Evan Casey, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Teran Powell, WUWM 89.7 Milwaukee’s NPR
Asal Rezaei, Spectrum News 1
