Destination Lake Winnebago Region and Fond Du Lack festivals Inc.: Create partnership for Sturgeon spectacular

Destination Lake Winnebago Region (DLWR) and Fond du Lac Festivals, Inc. (FFI) are proud and excited to announce a partnership in which both organizations will collaborate to bring Sturgeon Spectacular to the community for the 5th straight year. Sturgeon Spectacular will take place February 7th – 9th, 2020, downtown and on the shores of Lake Winnebago at Lakeside Park.

“Fond du Lac Festivals is extremely excited to expand our offerings and this event seemed like the perfect opportunity considering the background of our new Executive Director, Peter Wilke,” said Terry Davis, President of FFI. “Wilke previously ran Sturgeon Spectacular. Destination Lake Winnebago Region has really helped to tee up this event for continued success,” continued Davis.

“We at DLWR are really happy that FFI is taking over the Sturgeon Spectacular winter festival. They do a fantastic job with Walleye Weekend and are a great community partner. We are confident that under FFI’s leadership, Sturgeon Spectacular will continue to evolve and grow,” said Nicholas Brannen, DLWR Board Chair.

The partnership combines the destination marketing expertise of DLWR with FFI’s festival operations experience. Alliant Energy returns as the “Presenting Sponsor,” as they look to be more involved with community outreach in Fond du Lac, as well as other Wisconsin markets.

“My goal will be to keep the integrity of the winter festival, but also look for more ways to involve the Fond du Lac community,” Peter Wilke stated. DLWR and FFI are looking at bringing back many fan-favorites to Sturgeon Spectacular, including; The Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Competition, a downtown curling tournament, downtown ice sculpting, live entertainment, a Fun Run & 5K, Community Specials throughout the town, as well as other winter traditions on and off the lake at Lakeside Park.

“Destination Lake Winnebago Region – our area’s Visitor Bureau – has always been attracted to the idea of striking up practical partnerships with other area organizations. Collaboration, when done right, can create awesome events that offer vibrancy and fun activity in our area for residents and visitors alike. The opportunity to join forces with Fond du Lac Festivals Inc. feels like the perfect fit. We are very grateful to see Sturgeon Spectacular enter its fifth year with Peter Wilke at the helm! Bring on the fish, polka, snow and good times,” exclaimed Craig Molitor, President and CEO of DLWR.
