MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce (WVCC) launched today the Veteran Internship Recruitment Pledge and the Military Spouse Pledge as part of their Invest in Vets workforce development program. The public pledges are designed to encourage companies to show their commitment to supporting military veterans and military spouses.

“Both of these pledges were developed to directly address challenges faced by employers who want to recruit and retain military veterans and spouses,” said Saul Newtwon, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce. “We know Wisconsin employers are interested in reaching veterans and their families as part of their business and workforce development strategy. We are excited to offer businesses the tools to reaffirm their commitment, and work with them to expand economic opportunity and improve employment outcomes for both veterans and their families.”

The Veteran Internship Recruitment Pledge is a public commitment to recruit veteran interns as part of existing internship programs. The Military Spouse Pledge encourages businesses to attract, hire, and retain military spouses. These pledges align with the WVCC’s mission of expanding economic opportunity for military veterans and their families by improving employment outcomes for spouses of current military service members.

As part of the pledge process, the WVCC will also provide educational programming to participating employers to provide technical guidance on issues relating to recruitment, assessment, onboarding, and retention of military veterans and spouses.

Next steps on the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce Invest in Vets program will be announced at the 4th annual Wisconsin Veterans in the Workforce Summit on Friday, September 27, at the Baird Conference Center in the US Bank Building.
