WMC: Final Manufacturing Month video showcases the coolest things made in Wisconsin

MADISON – Gov. Scott Walker proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month, and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) will be promoting the state’s top industry throughout October. Each week, a new video will highlight a different theme: Veterans, Supply Chain, Apprenticeships, Economic Impact of Manufacturing and the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin.

Manufacturing is the number one contributor to Wisconsin’s booming economy, producing more than $59 billion in total output in 2017 – nearly 20 percent of Wisconsin’s total Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Additionally, the state’s more than 9,000 manufacturers employed nearly 470,000 people in 2017.

The final video in WMC’s series for Manufacturing Month focuses on the Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin and showcases all the things that are made right here in Wisconsin. This year the contest sponsored by Johnson Financial Group brought in over 160 nominees highlighting products from every corner of the state including food, motors, medical adaptive clothing, custom food trucks, life-saving devices, specialty beers and malts, utility vehicles, custom boats, signs and much more.

WMC Director of Communications & Marketing Nick Novak says, “Well, Wisconsin has a lot to be proud of. As I said we make a lot of really great products in the state.” In one of the contests Facebook Lives, WMC President & CEO Kurt Bauer states, “Every year we’ve had more people participate, more activity as far as social media from the nominees, it is just a fun way to showcase manufacturing and all the cool things that are made in Wisconsin.” Johnson Financial Group President & CEO Jim Popp during the reveal of who won the contest at the State of Wisconsin Business & Industry Luncheon adds for this year’s contest, “More than 175,000 votes were cast.”
