Milwaukee Jewish Federation: Technology news leader to keynote Economic Forum 2018
Panel discussion includes prominent local business leaders
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin–The Milwaukee Jewish Federation expects another sell-out crowd at its Economic Forum 2018 on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at The Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave.
This year features Kara Swisher as the keynote speaker, who is editor at large for the technology news website Recode and producer of the Recode Decode podcast and Code Conference. Her podcast with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on user privacy issues and the social application’s responsibility in the world dominated headlines and viral trends this summer. She is also a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times.
Swisher co-founded the former Recode (now owned by Vox Media), and before that she co-produced and co-hosted The Wall Street Journal’s “D: All Things Digital” and wrote the WSJ’s Marketplace front page column, “BoomTown.” The major high-tech conference with interviewees such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and many other leading players in the tech and media industries gave it the edge as the leading industry conference.
Following the keynote speech will be a panel discussion with Milwaukee business leaders: Mike Gousha, Distinguished Fellow in Law and Public Policy at Marquette University Law School; Joe Kirgues, co-founder of gener8tor; and Nick Turkal, MD, president and CEO of Advocate Aurora Health.
“The Milwaukee Jewish Federation organizes the Economic Forum to hold a community conversation about the economy,” said Hannah Rosenthal, CEO/president of Milwaukee Jewish Federation. “Having a technology news expert like Kara Swisher deliver the keynote speech is an excellent opportunity for this conversation. And our local panel of business leaders brings it all home.”
The lead sponsors of Economic Forum 2018 are BMO Harris Bank, PNC and Milwaukee Business Journal, along with over 50 additional sponsors. Limited sponsorships and individual tickets are still available; go to MilwaukeeJewish.org/EconomicFo
