DeWitt Names John Gardner as its Labor & Employment Relations Group Chair
MADISON|MILWAUKEE|MINNEAPOLIS – The law firm of DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C., and its affiliate DeWitt Mackall Crounse & Moore S.C., today announced John Gardner, a shareholder from its Madison office, was named Chair of its Labor & Employment Relations Group.
Gardner succeeds shareholder Scott Paler, who skillfully chaired the group since 2014. Of DeWitt’s nearly 140 attorneys, 23 focus their practices in the area of Labor & Employment Law. They serve thousands of clients ranging from multinational corporations to family-owned businesses.
“John Gardner’s in-depth knowledge of the Labor & Employment relations arena, and our firm, make him a natural candidate to succeed Scott Paler, whose contributions in the role helped grow the practice group during the past four years,” said Bradley C. Fulton, President & Managing Partner of the firm.
Gardner’s experience includes helping employers of all shapes and sizes deal with a wide assortment of employment-related legal issues. For nearly 15 years Gardner has defended employers in state and federal courts across the United States from lawsuits asserting claims for discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate a disability, breach of contract, violations of wage and hour laws, violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). In addition, he has represented employers in connection to disputes involving restrictive covenants, potential misappropriation of trade secrets, alleged violations of one or more standards administered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and many other legal issues, whether directly related to employment or otherwise. He regularly handles labor/management issues and disputes, including collective bargaining.
Gardner earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School and his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Every year since 2012, Wisconsin Super Lawyers® Magazine has named Gardner as a Wisconsin Rising Star in Employment Litigation | Defense.
