Taxpayers Deserve to Know Specifics of Evers’ Proposals

MADISON, Wis. – As Gov. Scott Walker and Tony Evers prepare to square off in Friday night’s debate hosted by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, questions about Tony Evers’ policy positions remain unanswered. In the spirit of the evening, Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) would like to propose the following four important questions for candidate Evers.

Question 1: You’ve stated on the record that you would phase out the school choice program. Without the program, some of Milwaukee’s highest performing schools would be forced to close and thousands of low income children would be forced out of the schools they love. How can you morally justify this position?

Question 2: You’ve said that all transportation revenue enhancers are on the table, including gas tax hikes, registration fee increases, and tolling. Yet you won’t provide any details. So, what are your true plans when it comes to tax and fee hikes? How much are you planning to raise taxes?

Question 3: Do you intend to repeal the property tax freeze (levy limits), returning Wisconsin to the old days of being a top-ten highest property tax state?

Question 4: Act 10 has saved state and local governments at least $5 billion. Local schools have reportedly saved more than $3.2 billion thanks to Act 10. You say you’ll repeal Act 10. What taxes will you raise or what programs will you cut to make up for the lost savings?

AFP-WI’s grassroots teams have been actively engaged in calling for the defeat of Tony Evers.
