Lois to manage major economic development efforts within the Village

Mount Pleasant, WI – Last night, the Mount Pleasant Village Board approved a contract with Kapur & Associates to hire Claude Lois as the Village’s Project Director. In this newly created position, Lois will manage the economic development related work necessary to attract major new manufacturing operations to the Village of Mount Pleasant.

“Claude is uniquely qualified to lead our economic development efforts,” said Mount Pleasant Village President David DeGroot. “He has an extraordinary track record of success in fostering economic development, both as an elected official and in the private sector.”

Lois served four terms as the Mayor of the City of Burlington, where he helped lead numerous large-scale development efforts that brought new investment and employers to the City, and administered two successful TIF Districts. Later, he also helped lead private sector efforts that resulted in the successful development of hundreds of acres for residential and commercial uses, both in Wisconsin and Illinois. Recently, Lois served as Division Administrator for the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Revenue, administering the state’s shared revenue program, as well as oversaw the management of real and personal property tax programs.

“This hire demonstrates Mount Pleasant’s deep commitment to fostering transformational development in our region,” said Racine County Executive Jonathan Delegrave. “Claude’s extensive experience as an elected official will be a tremendous asset to all of Racine County as we work to attract new jobs and foster new growth.”

Lois will start work on August 22, 2017.

“I am excited to take on this new opportunity and can’t wait to get started,” said Lois. “I look forward to working collaboratively with elected officials and staff to help Mount Pleasant attract the type of development that will benefit not only this Village, but all of Wisconsin.”
