Nancy Hoffman, 608-265-2008, [email protected]
Nancy Hoffman (formerly Sandhu), an experienced administrator who has played a key role in campus tour, parent, off-campus housing, and information programs, has been named interim director of Campus and Visitor Relations at UW-Madison.
Hoffman will follow director Steve Amundson beginning Feb. 1, as he departs for a new role at American Family Insurance. She has worked in the unit since 1996 and has two UW-Madison degrees.
Hoffman and others in Campus and Visitor Relations are the go-to staff to answer almost every kind of question about the university and community, from students, parents, prospective students, visitors, and faculty and staff.
“Nancy understands the many ways people interact with UW and has helped thousands of people successfully navigate it,” says Ben Miller, assistant vice chancellor for government and corporate affairs in University Relations. “She couldn’t be more qualified to direct these programs.”
Campus and Visitor Relations provides a wide array of information, experiences and connections for the campus community and beyond. Programs and services include: the Campus Visit Program, Information and Referral – including Ask Bucky email, chat and search; the Parent Program; Campus Area Housing; Bucky’s Classroom; and the Speakers Bureau, among other services.
Amundson has directed and grown the program since 2004, establishing Campus and Visitor Relations, known previously as the Campus Information and Visitor Center and Visitor and Information Programs, as the essential source for information and front door to the university.
He’ll create the new role of director of strategic partnerships at American Family and will oversee its significant sponsorship of UW-Madison programs.
“Steve has provided dedicated and energetic service to UW-Madison over the last 12-plus years,” says Charles Hoslet, vice chancellor for university relations. “While we will miss his leadership on campus, we are excited that we’ll have the opportunity to continue working with him in his new position.”
