GREEN BAY, WI – Copper State Brewing Company is the newest hopping addition to the growing craft beer scene in the Green Bay area, and its doors will open to the public on June 1. They will celebrate with a ribbon cutting, and maybe a few beers, on Friday, June 2, at 2 p.m.
Copper State has been in the works since a bunch of adventurous family members came together to buy the building from Hinterland in 2015. The two breweries worked in collaboration over the last year; Jonathan Martens, Copper State’s engineer-turned-brewmaster, was able to work with Hinterland’s brewers to perfect his craft on the same equipment.
But great beer is not all they are crafting at Copper State Brewing Company—their restaurant
menu has been carefully crafted by Chef Scott Halbach. Aside from unique burgers and woodfired pizzas, Chef Scott has put together creative small plates and entrees that beg to be tasted, and don’t forget to leave room for Pastry Chef Kyra’s desserts. Look for Brewmaster Jon’s beer creations to be used in the menu as well.
Copper Rock Coffee (Copper State’s overly-caffeinated cousin business owned by Bill and Emily Heiges) will also be brewing up joy in the building, starting at 6 a.m. and serving coffee drinks to help wake up downtown Green Bay. Baked goods and breakfasts will be available, along with
their deli-style lunches, which will fill a need in the On Broadway business district.
The old Hinterland building has also been carefully crafted to fit the needs of both Copper State Brewing Company and Copper Rock Coffee. Walls were removed on the main floor to open up
the space and add a beautiful new bar, which helps promote a taproom atmosphere. Rustic décor and amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident from the moment you walk in. Look for an outdoor biergarten to be completed in early summer.
Brian Johnson, executive director, On Broadway, Inc. said, “The addition of Copper State/Copper Rock to the Broadway district will allow us to activate a space that previously was only used during the evening. By offering breakfast and lunch options we now have a space that’s more fully utilized in the district. Additionally, they’re carrying on a great tradition started
by Hinterland and will be the seventh craft brewery located in Green Bay. We’re thrilled to
welcome another amenity that encourages people to visit the district and spend additional time
