New North, Inc.: Five regional leaders named to New North board of directors

NEW NORTH, July 10, 2017 – Regional leaders Brian Bruess (St. Norbert College), Mary Goggans (Encapsys), Bryan Hollenbach (Green Bay Packaging), Doug Page (Performa) and Bob Zemple (Baker Tilly Virchow Krause) have been named to the board of directors of New North Inc., Vicki Updike, chair of the board development committee announced.

 

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to add prominent voices in core industries of New North: manufacturing, financial services, education, and building and construction,” says Updike.  “We are excited to have their contributions in moving the region forward.”

 

Bruess was named the eighth president of St. Norbert College on Dec. 12, 2016, and assumed his duties this past July 1. Previous to his SNC appointment, Bruess spent 21 years at St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, Minn., culminating in the role of executive vice president and chief operating officer of the institution.  A 1990 graduate of St. Norbert with majors in sociology and psychology, he subsequently earned a master’s of education degree in 1992 and his Ph.D. in college student personnel/research and evaluation in 1995, both from Ohio University.

 

Goggans is president of Encapsys, LLC, a global innovator and manufacturer of encapsulated products.  She previously was vice president and general manager of the Encapsys division of Appvion, a specialty papermaker, following a 25-year career in leadership at Kimberly-Clark Corporation.  Goggans received a bachelor’s of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia in 1983.

 

Hollenbach is executive vice president at Green Bay Packaging, Inc., a position he has held since 2011 in which he oversees the company’s paper mills, woodlands, and corrugated and paperboard packaging divisions.  He began his 13-year career with GBP in 2004 as VP and general manager of its Green Bay Shipping Container plant.  Prior to Green Bay Packaging, Hollenbach served as VP of operations for Solo Cup and Hoffmaster/Fonda Group.  A 1985 graduate of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, he worked as a CPA early in his career.  Hollenbach received his MBA degree from St. Louis University in 1991.

 

Page is president & COO of Performa Inc., a Wisconsin-based architectural and engineering firm. 

In 1995 he was one of the company’s founders, and since has been an integral leader on many notable projects throughout the New North.  He previously spent 11 years with another area architectural firm.  Page is a 1984 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s of science degree in architecture.

 

Zemple is a partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, a full-service accounting, tax and advisory firm.  He is a lead partner for the company’s manufacturing and distribution team, and specializes in tax and consulting practices.  Zemple received a B.B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1980, and joined Baker Tilly upon graduation, enjoying a 37-year career.
