NEENAH, Wis. (Dec. 5, 2017) — Miron Construction Co., Inc., in partnership with the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education and the Meemic Foundation, recently hosted a free workshop for area school teachers, staff and administrators to learn how to incorporate more green and healthy initiatives into their schools.

The health and safety of school facilities is among the top priorities of school districts, as it can impact the health and well-being of students and staff, and influences learning and teaching opportunities. During the Green & Healthy School Workshop, attendees learned new ways to increase the environmental health of school buildings through topics related to safe drinking water, proper indoor air quality and how to handle hazardous waste. The workshop also included ideas for student engagement related to school environmental health. Attendees walked away with their own Green School Investigation Kit to help implement their own initiatives to keep their school environmentally friendly.

The Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education provides professional development, hands-on classroom resources, curriculum for energy, environmental, and forestry education, and guidance and resources for Wisconsin’s Green & Healthy Schools Program.
