The Ignace Community Health Fair is one of many events around the country celebrating National Health Center Week (NHCW). The goal of the Ignace Community Health Fair is to strengthen community partnerships and collaboration to increase health awareness and promote community wellness.

The Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center (GLIIHC) is one of 18 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Wisconsin; The Center serves more than 8,000 patients on the south side of Milwaukee, a number that continues to grow along with the demand for affordable primary care.
Local agencies and sponsors are providing a fun community Health Fair & Open House at the GLIIHC Parking Lot on Historic Mitchell Street, on Milwaukee’s south side. At 11:00 am Mayor Tom Barrett, Alderman José Pérez, and GLIIHC leadership will provide a Welcome & Invocation, followed by a free lunch for all.

Local community business, organizations and municipalities are collaborating to offer free health screenings (e.g. blood pressure, glucose, breast, etc.), a farmers market, a Native cultural tent (herb product demos, teas scrubs, etc.), fitness demonstrations, and music. Everyone who participates is eligible to win prizes. The health screenings and other activities are for children and adults of all ages. All elements of the Community Health Fair are FREE!
