Increased quantity of students targeted for workforce recruitment effort
APPLETON, Wis. (August 15, 2017) – The Fox Cities Regional Partnership, the economic development division of the Fox Cities Chamber, plans to host up to 200 students from upwards of 30 Midwest universities during its fourth Talent Upload event scheduled for October 12-14, 2017. Talent Upload is an immersive event created to show students studying for their bachelor degree in several high-demand majors why the Fox Cities Region is a natural place to begin their professional careers.
The Regional Partnership partners with local employers that are currently recruiting for internships and entry-level positions to host the students for a three-day tour of the region, to expose students to life as a young professional in the Fox Cities. The event is free for students, including: coach bus transportation to and from campus to the Fox Cities, all meals and lodging.
“A lot of these students haven’t thought about life as a young professional in the Fox Cities, even if they grew up here. We promote the great job opportunities here, but also focus on everything else that comes along with taking a new position. We show them housing, recreation, entertainment and volunteer opportunities available—the students really appreciate getting an all-encompassing experience,” shared Talent Upload’s organizer Beth Pritzl of Fox Cities Regional Partnership.
The students targeted in this Fall’s Talent Upload have been expanded beyond those majoring in computer science, information technology (IT) and engineering to also include supply chain, logistics and finance. Targeted universities are in Wisconsin, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, eastern Minnesota, northwestern Iowa, northern Illinois and northern Indiana. There are multiple levels of engagement opportunities available for employers looking to get involved, depending upon their specific needs and budgets.
Past Talent Upload events have been successful in recruiting young professionals to the area. Approximately 63% of students who have attended, accepted an internship or permanent position with a participating Talent Upload employer.
