Bachmann Construction, Madison, recently earned an award from the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation for the exterior restoration of the iconic University Club on State Street, they completed in 2015. Bachmann received the award for blending the old and new construction and maintaining the historic quality of the University Club while providing a solid infrastructure.

The exterior masonry and stone of the entry stair, entry parapet, and the west patio had severely deteriorated over several decades. Stairs were cracked and uneven and the underlying foundation was falling apart.  Bachmann Construction individually cut each new brick to match the existing and set new matching cut stone, balustrades and gargoyles.

Bachmann Construction is noted for their experience and quality track record with historic masonry and stone restoration. The family-owned business combines detailed craftsmanship with the rigorous standards of the Historic Building Code when they work on projects such as the State Capitol, Olin House, the Mustard Museum, historic churches and other landmarks.
