WPS Health Solutions: Dr. Michael Ostrov promoted to Chief Medical Officer

He is the Wisconsin Medical Society’s 2016 Physician Citizen of the Year

Dr. Michael Ostrov has been promoted to Chief Medical Officer for WPS Health Insurance and Arise Health Plan, according to Executive Vice President Scott Kowalski.

Ostrov, who succeeds Dr. Phil Colmenares, had been Medical Director Network and Quality since joining WPS in February 2015.

A family medicine physician, Ostrov previously was Medical Director at Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin in Madison, and Chief Medical Officer at Agrace Hospice and Palliative Care in Madison and Janesville.

In April, Ostrov was named the Wisconsin Medical Society’s 2016 Physician Citizen of the Year. He was selected for his extraordinary efforts in furthering the conversation about advance care planning and end-of-life care in Wisconsin.

A native of Detroit, Ostrov has a degree in psychology from the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from St. Louis University and completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He earned a master’s degree in administrative medicine from the University of Wisconsin.
