MEQUON, Wis. – Charter Manufacturing Company, a privately held metals manufacturing leader, today announced that Bob Venable will become the company’s President and COO following the retirement of Tom Glaister later this year. Venable is currently President of the company’s Charter Steel division. The move is part of a transition plan approved by Charter’s Board of Directors.

“Bob Venable is a respected leader at Charter, and his track record embodies our values and our culture of employee engagement,” said John W. Mellowes, Charter Manufacturing CEO. “Bob’s move into this leadership role further positions our family-owned company for future growth and success.”

Venable joined Charter Steel in 2013 after 17 years at Robert W. Baird & Co., where he held a variety of leadership positions. Earlier in his career, he worked in manufacturing for Procter & Gamble and M&M/Mars, and he co-founded a technology company.

Glaister joined Charter Manufacturing as President in March of 2000. During his tenure, Charter has more than doubled in size and expanded internationally, including in China and Europe. In 2012, Charter acquired Charter Dura-Bar as a fourth division to the company, which also includes Charter Steel, Charter Wire and Charter Automotive.

“We say that Charter is ‘one family, one team,’ and Tom Glaister has been an incredibly important leader within the Charter family,” said John W. Mellowes. “We thank Tom for his many years of service, his strong leadership and his assistance through this planned transition. We are glad to have his input as Bob moves into this key role.”

Glaister’s retirement is effective July 1.
