Wisconsin-exclusive menu item, The Badger Brat

(Brookfield, WI; July 19, 2016) – Portillo’s, the Chicagoland fast casual concept known for its menu of Chicago-style favorites, expands across state lines with their first Wisconsin location at 17685 W. Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield, WI. Opening today, Tuesday, June 19, the restaurant features a 1950’s style décor with Wisconsin memorabilia sprinkled throughout the 9,000 square foot space.

“Over the years, we’ve had a lot of requests to bring Portillo’s to Wisconsin,” says Nicholas Scarpino, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations. “We’re excited to be opening our first Wisconsin location in Brookfield; the reception from the community and our fans has been remarkable. Our team looks forward to bringing Portillo’s to a whole new market.”

The Brookfield location features Portillo’s beloved menu items, including Chicago-Style Hot Dogs topped with customary mustard, onions, relish, sport peppers, tomato, pickle, and celery salt; Italian Beef Sandwich, slow-roasted, thinly sliced beef cooked with Italian spices and served on French bread; char-grilled burgers, fresh salads and Portillo’s famous Chocolate Cake. In honor of its newest location, Portillo’s Brookfield is the first to offer the Badger Brat, a Usinger’s Fresh Bratwurst made with stone-ground German mustard and sauerkraut, available only in Wisconsin.

The restaurant offers seating for over 190 guests, along with a seasonal patio and semi-private party room. Décor elements include vintage diner photography, Harley-Davidson and Les Paul memorabilia – including album covers and a guitar –and an outdoor mural of a 1956 Nash Ambassador automobile. As with all Portillo’s locations, guests can seek out a concealed homage to founder Dick Portillo and his wife Sharon; a hidden sign that proclaims, “Dick Loves Sharon.”
