gener8tor ranked among best accelerators in country

gener8tor was named one of the nation’s top accelerators in the latest Seed Accelerator Rankings.

The list, announced at the South By Southwest show, was compiled by Rice University, MIT and the University of Richmond. It was broken down into three tiers.

Gener8tor, which runs programs in Milwaukee and Madison, did not make the platinum tier, which included top accelerators like Y Combinator. But it was among the eight that got listed in the second-ranking silver tier.

The researchers’ criteria included the survival rates of startups that went through the program, amount of money they got and their valuation. Only 23 of the 150 accelerators the researchers looked at got listed in the rankings.

“There are new accelerator programs popping up every month,” said MIT’s Yael Hochberg. “Our goal is to generate a larger conversation about what makes some seed accelerators more successful and help entrepreneurs find the right fit for their startup.”
