CBRE HIRED TO BRING 4.2 MILLION-SQ.-FT. FORMER JANESVILLE
GENERAL MOTORS PLANT SITE TO MARKET
Janesville, Wisconsin – February 17, 2016 – CBRE Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that the firm was selected to market for disposition the General Motors’ 250-acre former manufacturing plant and haul away yard in Janesville, Wisconsin.
CBRE, the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, will immediately start a global marketing effort for prospective buyers and tenants. The team has not set an offering price.
The CBRE team leading the disposition of the plant include Tom Simon, a first vice president in CBRE’s Minneapolis, Minnesota, office, Mark Collins, a senior vice president in CBRE’s Detroit, Michigan, office, and Wayne Rappold, a senior associate in CBRE’s Milwaukee, Wisconsin, office.
“We have a deep understanding of the magnitude of this property and its importance to the Janesville community,” said Mr. Simon, who is a founding member of the CBRE Special Properties Group that specializes in major industrial facilities outside of metropolitan areas. “Accordingly, General Motors and CBRE are committed to finding a buyer as quickly as possible.”
The fully-equipped rail-served manufacturing facility consists of the 3.8 million-sq.-ft. main plant and six other buildings. Originally built in 1919, the plant was the oldest operating General Motors plant when it ceased production in 2009. Though the plant is rich with automotive history, more than half of the main building was constructed after 1970.
