Janesville – Blackhawk Technical College students who earn an associate degree and carry a minimum 2.0 grade point average are now eligible for immediate admission to Herzing University to pursue a four-year degree.

Blackhawk, which offers (19) associate degree programs, is now connected to Herzing’s DEGREE UP initiative.

DEGREE UP maximizes credits received at a technical or community college and provides a flexible scheduling option that will allow BTC students to complete four-year degree requirements at Blackhawk when available at BTC’s tuition rate. Students are required to complete at least 25 percent of their required degree credits with Herzing, which offers online credit courses and has 11 sites around the nation, including Wisconsin campuses in Madison, Brookfield and Kenosha.

For example, if a Blackhawk student were to complete an associate degree in Business Management, the student would need to earn 56 more credits for a four-year degree from Herzing. The student would be able to complete 22 of those credits at BTC.

“At Blackhawk Technical College, our goal is to make sure that students always have opportunities to pursue further education,’’ said Dr. Diane Nyhammer, BTC’s Vice President of Learning. “This agreement is just one more way to provide that important avenue.’’

With the addition of Herzing, Blackhawk now offers 37 schools in its transfer agreement portfolio.

Herzing is a private, non-profit school accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Information about how to get started in the DEGREE UP initiative is available at Herzing.edu/DEGREEUP. General information about Herzing and its program offerings is available at Herzing.edu.

“We want to give all students equal opportunity to pursue competitive, career-ready degrees,” said Herzing University President Renee Herzing. “Everyone should be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in the most efficient manner possible, without having to worry about a difficult transition between schools.”
Blackhawk Technical College is the ninth school in the 16-school Wisconsin Technical College System to offer the DEGREE UP option.

BTC offers associate degrees in: Accounting, Administrative Support Professional, Agribusiness Science and Technology, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Diagnostic Medical Sonography & Vascular, Early Childhood Education, Electro-Mechanical Technology (Automated Systems), Fire Protection Technician, Human Resources, Individualized Technical Studies, Information Technology – Network Specialist, Information Technology – Web Software Developer, Medical Administrative Specialist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant and Radiography.
