Area nonprofits receive more than $86,000 in grants Awards from the Alliant Energy Foundation help fund community projects

MADISON, Wis. – June 10, 2016 – Twenty-six area nonprofit organizations are receiving community grants totaling more than $86,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation in its first of two 2016 giving cycles.

“These groups and their work strengthen our communities,” said Julie Bauer, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “We know our support allows them to build on their success and do more good things, especially in the areas of Helping Families, Education and the Environment.”

Among those earning grants are:

· Urban League of Greater Madison, $18,000 for the 1,500 Jobs Initiative

· Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council, $5,250 for STEM and Outdoor Experiences

· Aldo Leopold Nature Center Inc., Monona, $5,000 for High-Touch Meets High-Tech programming

· Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County, $5,000 for Youth Maker Camp

· Domestic Abuse Intervention Services Inc., $5,000 for Community Response Program

· Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce Foundation, $5,000 for Leadership Greater Madison – Youth

· The Salvation Army, Madison, $5,000 for its Family Shelter

· YWCA of Madison, $5,000 for the YWeb Career Academy

Also receiving grants are: AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin Inc., Boy Scouts of America-Glacier’s Edge Council, FairShare CSA Coalition, Gio’s Garden Inc., Ice Age Trail Alliance, Kennedy Heights Community Center, Madison Area Food Pantry Gardens Inc., Madison Audubon Society, Madison Children’s Museum Inc., Madison Public Library Foundation, McFarland Youth Center Inc., Natural Heritage Land Trust, Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation Inc., Project Home Inc., Students and Leaders Net Inc., Supporting Families Together Association, Three Gaits Inc., Vera Court Neighborhood Center and the Village of Oregon.
