Bank of Sun Prairie Sponsors First Meeting at Palace Cinema

In response to multiple inquiries from the private sector, the City of Sun Prairie Department of Economic Development launched the first of a planned series of one‐hour networking meetings for executives and owners. The first official event was held on Thursday, September 17th at the Take 5 Lounge at the Palace Cinema in Sun Prairie. Participating companies to date include the Bank of Sun Prairie, 2G Engineering, Express Employment Professionals, Starion Financial, Prairie Flowers & Gifts, Guardian IG, Buck & Honey’s, and Danyel Ann Foods.

Approximately 35 businesses have been contacted about participation, and efforts are already underway to schedule the next meeting in late October. The intent is to grow the event over time by employing personal invitations from current attendees.

“The idea is to provide an efficient and effective forum on a monthly basis that is productive use of everyone’s time while minimizing the time away from their respective businesses.” said the City’s Director of Economic Development Neil Stechschulte. “Our hope is that this event will allow our executives and owners to find opportunities to work with and promote each other, and help one another out upon occasion.”

The format is tentatively set to be breakfast and networking for the first part of the meeting, and then introductions and announcements by attendees. Identifying a speaker on a relevant topic is being considered for every few months.

Stechschulte also sees additional benefits to both the City and community organizations looking to do outreach to the business community. “It’s a great opportunity for us or any civic group to pitch businesses on opportunities to help with projects and address community needs. We plan on using the network to solicit feedback on any number of topics including what priorities City government should be focusing on.”

Special thanks to the Bank of Sun Prairie for sponsoring a hot breakfast, as well as to Marcus Theatres and the Palace Cinema for providing the meeting space in the Take 5 Lounge and for providing breakfast.

Chief Executive Officers and business owners who would like to be included on the meeting notification list can send a request to join the invitation list at business@cityofsunprairie.com.
