Company to Offer Comprehensive Creative Design for Commercial and Residential Spaces

APPLETON, Wis. (May 19, 2015) – A newly formed design firm, SITE ● landscape architecture, has opened in Appleton with nearly two decades of experience in professional design work across Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

SITE focuses on the comprehensive design of both commercial and residential projects in Northeast Wisconsin and emphasizes an environmentally sensitive approach that incorporates a site responsive design.

Using this design philosophy, owner Brian DeMuynck, PLA, LEED AP, says each site’s overall design is created to fit its location and surrounding community, whether that is a neighborhood, commercial space, park or back yard. “With this approach, we aren’t just considering the immediate work space, but everything around it,” DeMuynck said. “The idea is to look at how the design will best suit the community and make it flow seamlessly with the natural environment and any nearby structures.”

The elements SITE factors in when first assessing a property and developing an environmentally responsive design range from history, topography and scale to native materials, existing architecture and storm water management solutions.

Leading the firm, DeMuynck brings design experience to the Fox Cities as a landscape architect and project manager who most recently worked for RATIO Architects in Champaign, Ill., and led the development of the award-winning $7-million Crystal Lake Family Aquatic Center in Urbana. He received his bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Illinois and has held other roles in park planning and ecological restoration. DeMuynck also guided the development of the popular “nature play” spray ground at Mulberry Fields Park in Zionsville, Ind.

SITE’s team members have experience in planning a variety of custom projects, large and small, from the conceptual design and master planning stages through the bidding process and construction administration. Staff members have developed plans for different programming needs, including multi-field sports complexes, university campuses, trails/paths, urban fishing piers and playgrounds. The team completes residential projects, too, and works with homeowners to design outdoor spaces fully tailored to their style and preferences.

For many spaces, SITE employees have served as part of a multi-disciplinary team in planning efforts. This includes collaboration and coordination among engineers, city officials, contractors and the general public.

SITE is distinctive within the Fox Valley in that it is a local design firm that specializes solely in comprehensive site design for commercial and residential projects. “Our customer base no longer needs to look outside the immediate region for these types of landscape architectural services,” DeMuynck explained. “As designers, we’re also stewards. Our goal with each new project is to enhance the space, make it functional and ensure the environmental impacts of our designs are carefully considered for future generations.”
