Rx Tech Prep: Two mid-west entrepreneurs expand to Madison introducing Rx Tech Prep, an 11 week pharmacy technician program

To meet the growing demand of pharmacy technicians, two mid-west entrepreneurs, have been meeting the needs of both students and pharmacies with Rx Tech Prep, a concentrated 11 week course that prepares students to take the national exam to become certified pharmacy technicians.

Pharmacy technicians are among the fastest growing, and best-ranked jobs in 2015 reports U.S. News. An addition of about 70,700 new positions in the next decade will be added to the in-demand pharmacy technician field (U.S. News). This growth is a 20% increase from 2012-2022 reports the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, which is faster than the average occupational increase.

Working in the pharmacy has been a dream job for Isabella Rodriguez, a licensed practicing pharmacist. So much, that she and her husband, Roy, introduced Rx Tech Prep, five years ago in Rockford, Illinois. The two, who are passionate about helping others, have assisted hundreds of people since the launch of their program. “It brings me great joy to see a student not only get nationally certified, but also gain employment,” said Isabella Rodriguez, who started as a pharmacy technician in 1997 before becoming a pharmacist in 2005. Their endeavors have been successful with the addition of an online program, and certification and approval in the state of Wisconsin. Roy Rodriguez, co-founder of Rx Tech Prep said, “In deciding which city to expand to, Madison was at the top of my list because of the inviting, entrepreneurial spirit, and the friendly and helpful people the city possesses.” Their Madison office is located at 5250 East Terrace Drive.

Rx Tech Prep covers topics such as pharmacy law, prescription interpretation, pharmacy calculations, drug information, and compounding practices. The program also includes leadership development headed by Roy Rodriguez, who helps people discover their true potential. “Unlocking the talents in people and inspiring others to believe in themselves is what motivates me,” he said. Rx Tech Prep classes are taught by pharmacists, and they meet four hours once a week for 11 weeks. A summer class begins June 9th in Madison.

They will be celebrating with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at their Madison location at 1pm Tuesday May 12th 2015 at 5250 East Terrace Drive. Their summer classes begin Tuesday June 9th, and the online program has an open enrollment.
