Janesville – Winners of the Janesville Area Creativity Awards will be
announced during a ceremony at the Janesville Performing Arts
Center, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 6 p.m.
The event, hosted by the United Arts Alliance, will include live music
and dance performances by many of the nominees – as well as a
special appearance by the Craig High School Jazz Ensemble and the
Parker High School Pep Band. Plus, enjoy a special performance by
2014 Roots Award Winner Callie Schouten.
JPAC lobby doors will open at 6 p.m. and will feature food samples
from the Culinary Artist nominees, People’s Choice voting and a live
performance by The Pancake Riot. The Award show begins at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $8 and are available now at the JPAC Box Office, 408 S.
Main St.
Nominations were accepted by the UAA for outstanding local creative
achievements during 2014, and finalists in 17 categories were
announced in December. Awards will be given in these areas of
outstanding achievement:
• Theatre Production
• Actor
• Actress
• Original Film
• Original Song
• Live Band
• Solo Performer
• Dance Group
• Culinary Artist
• Fine Artist
• Photographer
• Creative Writer
• Hair Designer
• Judged Awards:
• Performing Arts Educator
• Fine Arts Educator
• Emerging Star (under 18)
• Roots Award (local native achieving success on a national scale
Winners in four of the categories above were determined by a panel
of local judges. The rest will be “People’s Choice,” voted on by
attendees of the show. “People’s Choice” nominees will have ballot
boxes in the lobby accepting cash donations. One dollar is equal to
one vote. All funds raised will be used for United Arts Alliance
scholarships. Ballot stuffing is encouraged!
