MILWAUKEE – Traffic and parking are a breeze when you ride the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) Straight to the Gate of Irish Fest! MCTS offers two easy ways to the festival, held August 13-16, 2015 at Henry Maier Festival Park: Shuttle service along Wisconsin Avenue and Freeway Flyers from three park-ride lots.
DOWNTOWN SHUTTLE SERVICE
Shuttles provide service roughly every 30 minutes from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm on Thursday, August 13; 3:30 pm to 12:30 am on Friday, August 14; 11:30 pm to 12:30 am on Saturday, August 15; and 10:30 am to 11:00 pm on Sunday, August 16 (Shuttle service for mass begins at 8 a.m.). Buses operate in both directions along Wisconsin Avenue (see map). When traveling to Irish Fest, the Shuttle stops between N. 6th Street and N. Jackson Street, then proceeds directly to the Mid Gate. Stops are made at all bus stops marked with the Summerfest smile logo.
FREEWAY FLYER SERVICE
Festival-goers can catch a Freeway Flyer from the following park-ride lots (see map): Brown Deer East (Brown Deer Road, west of I-43), Ryan Road (Ryan Road and I-94) and Timmerman (Timmerman Field at Appleton & N. 96th Street). Service operates approximately every half-hour on the hour and half-hour. Service is provided during all hours of the festival, beginning a half-hour before the event and ending a half-hour after the event. Freeway Flyer service to mass at Irish Fest begins at 8:00 a.m.
LOCAL ROUTES
MCTS also serves downtown with numerous local routes from all over Milwaukee County. Many local routes connect with the Downtown Shuttle.
FARES
Shuttles are $3.00 round-trip for adults or $2.50 using an M•CARD. Freeway Flyer round-trip $6.50 for adults or $4.70 using an M•CARD. Shuttle fare children (6-11) is $1.50 round-trip or $1.50 with the M•CARD. Freeway Flyer round-trip for children is $3.00 round-trip in cash or using an M•CARD. M•CARD 1-, 7- or 31-day pass also works as round trip fare on the Shuttle and on the Freeway Flyer plus $2.00. On the Shuttle and Freeway Flyer, U-PASS (summer semester only), GO Pass, New Freedom Pass and Commuter Value Pass are accepted as full fare.
