Meriter: Welcomes first baby of 2016

MADISON, Wis.–Welcome, Vivian Voelker! The Meriter – UnityPoint Health Birthing Center announced today that she is the first baby born in 2016.

Vivian was born to parents Marisa and Nick at 12:12 a.m., weighing 7 lbs. 15 oz. at a length of 20.9 in.

“Vivian kicks off another year in which we will see several thousand babies born at Meriter – UnityPoint Health hospital,” Director of Perinatal Services Carla Griffin said. “That makes us nearly as excited as all the parents, family members and friends who come through our birthing center.”

Meriter – UnityPoint Health hospital, the busiest birthing center in the state of Wisconsin, offers private birthing suites, experienced nurses and all the little extras to create a great experience for parents. Meriter is one of only five hospitals in Wisconsin to be designated “Baby Friendly” by the World Health Organization.
