Regional Administrator tours facility and highlights $50,000 award
MILWAUKEE –SBA Regional Administrator Marianne Markowitz visited with executives from M-WERC and WERCBench Labs on Wednesday as part of a four stop tour in Milwaukee. The visit highlighted WERCBench labs as a $50,000 winner of the Wisconsin’s Growth Accelerator Fund Competition.
“It’s great to see the level of support the SBA has for the start-up community,” said WERCBench Lab’s Greg Meier. “We’re thankful for the funding and look forward to continuing to playing a role in the effort to create jobs and grow the energy, power and control industry in our region.”
The SBA’s first-ever Startup in a Day Competition was created to help U.S. cities simplify the licensing process so entrepreneurs can startup in a day. More than $1.5 million in cash prizes were awarded to 26 cities, including Milwaukee, and two Native American tribes.
The City took a public pledge to commit to streamlining the licensing, permitting, and other requirements needed to start a business and is receiving $50,000 in funding for its Milwaukee Business Navigator effort.
