Governor Walker also Presents Workplace Excellence Award to Oshkosh Corporation

Oshkosh – Governor Scott Walker delivered remarks and participated in a question and answer session at the New North Summit today, which was held at the Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel and Convention Center in Oshkosh. The New North Summit is an annual event that typically draws over 550 attendees from across the state. At the summit, Governor Walker also presented the Workplace Excellence Award to Oshkosh Corporation.

“The New North Summit is a convenient and productive opportunity for leaders throughout the Northeast Wisconsin region to network and collaborate with one another,” Governor Walker said. “As we continue to spur economic development in Wisconsin, partnerships at the local level with government, education, and business leaders remain crucial and today’s summit helps us to build and strengthen those relationships.”

The New North Summit brings together business, education, and community leaders from around the region to share economic development updates and learn about regional growth opportunities. Every year, a theme is chosen for the summit that encompasses relevant business and economic themes, and each keynote speaker helps to connect that theme to real life applications and best practices. The theme for this years’ summit was “Think Shift,” and attendees were encouraged to shift their thinking to adapt and grow new ideas.

Governor Walker awarded the Workplace Excellence Award to Oshkosh Corporation, a leading manufacturer of specialty trucks, truck bodies, markets of defense, concrete placement, refuse hauling, access equipment, and fire and emergency vehicles. The Workplace Excellence Award is presented every year to highlight a business or organization in Northeastern Wisconsin that actively seeks to improve its’ competitive advantage and practices that lead to successful results.
