Bachmann Construction, Madison, has broken ground for a 34,000 square foot addition to the Colony Brands Design Center in Monroe. The addition, to be completed next spring, will house creative marketing services, plus photo and print production teams in studios for multi-channel creative and marketing production. Currently, many Colony Brands teams are located in separate buildings throughout the Monroe area.

The expansion is the third renovation since 2013 when Colony Brands, one the world’s largest internet and catalog companies, bought a vacated Walmart store in Monroe to create its new Design Center. Two years ago, Bachmann Construction remodeled the building for Colony Brands warehouse space. Last year, Bachmann added a 30,000 square foot addition to bring 130 employees involved in digital and print production under one roof. The addition now under construction will house about 100 more people with half the space designated for offices and the other half for a new high tech photography department called Studio 26, named after the founding date of Colony Brands in 1926.

John Baumann, Colony Brands president and CEO said the completion of the second addition is the final phase of the 160,000 square foot Design Center. The Design Center centralizes all multi-channel design disciplines, merchandising, quality assurance test rooms, product design and photography.

Colony Brands headquarters remain at 1112 7th Avenue, Monroe, WI, 53566, about 1.5 miles from the Design Center.

Both Colony Brands and Bachmann Construction are Wisconsin-based family- owned businesses. Bachmann is celebrating its 60th anniversary and Colony Brands started 89 years ago.
