Angelic Bakehouse: Expands in northeast

Sprouted grain leader adds 265 stores from Mid-Atlantic to New England

MILWAUKEE— Sprouted grain industry leader Angelic Bakehouse will be significantly expanding its presence across the Northeastern U.S. The bakery today announced agreements with the four Ahold USA divisions (Giant Carlisle, Giant Landover, Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro), as well as D’Agostino and DeCicco Family Markets. In all, 265 additional northeastern retail outlets will now be carrying the Angelic products.

Angelic’s popular Flatzza® and Flatzza® Buddy, the first packaged sprouted grain pizza crust, are now available at 128 locations under the Ahold USA umbrella, including 63 Stop & Shop locations, 27 Giant Landover locations and 38 Giant Carlisle locations. Ahold operates supermarkets in 10 states – Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia – carving out a niche as an innovator in quality, experience and convenience. In addition to pioneering the superstore concept, Ahold stores were among the first to include nutritional labeling as part of the shelf price label.

“The Ahold USA stores are a natural fit for Angelic Bakehouse,” says Angelic’s CEO and president Jenny Marino. “They’ve reshaped the food industry; we’re doing the same for bread. Consumers don’t want to trade taste for nutrition any longer. Our sprouted grain, GMO-free products solve that problem.”

Ahold will also be bringing on Angelic’s bestselling product, the sprouted seven-grain bread. Starting June 10, it will become available in 113 Giant Carlisle stores, and its reduced sodium sprouted seven-grain bread will be available in 80 stores.

Angelic’s products are also now available in two high-end retailers in the New York City area, a total of 24 new store locations. The Flatzza® is available in 14 D’Agostino locations in New York City. In addition, 10 DeCicco’s stores in Westchester County are carrying Angelic’s bread, buns and flatbreads, 10 products in total.

“We have a love affair with food, and it¹s obvious that D’Agostino’s and DeCicco’s do too,” says Marino. “We are all excited to bring Angelic’s uniquely delicious and nutritious products to their customers.”
