EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Deb Erwin began her new position as manager of Regulatory Policy at Xcel Energy’s Madison office on Monday, April 28.

Erwin has a broad background in renewable energy policy, regional energy markets, utility regulation and environmental compliance. Since 2008, she has worked for the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in policy analysis, most recently as a program and policy supervisor. Prior to that, she worked as an attorney in a renewable energy law practice, where she counseled owners, developers and landowners on matters concerning wind energy projects.

In her new position, Erwin will lead Xcel Energy’s regulatory policy efforts in Wisconsin and Michigan, focusing on issues related to renewable energy and those that affect the company’s overall electric and natural gas operations in the two states.

“Deb’s extensive background and expertise in regulatory and legislative policy make her an effective advocate for energy policies that align with the interests of our customers and our company,” said Don Reck, Xcel Energy regional vice president, Rates and Regulatory.

Erwin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Minnesota and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. She currently serves on the board of directors for Wisconsin Women in Government.

Erwin succeeds David Donovan, who now holds the position of general manager of Customer and Community Service for Xcel Energy’s Wisconsin and Michigan service territory.

Xcel Energy’s regional operating company for Wisconsin and Michigan is headquartered in Eau Claire. The company serves 253,000 electric and 110,000 natural gas customers in northern and west-central Wisconsin and a portion of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
