Earth Day Business Sustainability Award Nominations Opens

Award Presentation Scheduled for April 9th
at the Potawatomi Casino

February 18, 2014 – In 1970, Earth Day was established to raise the visibility of what was happening to the planet and to organize support for protecting the environment. In 2014, the WI Sustainable Business Council and Cool Choices, are raising the visibility of business’ accomplishments by introducing the Earth Day Business Sustainability Awards.

These awards are designed to honor businesses for their leadership in developing innovative products, processes, and business models. The awards are designed for those Wisconsin businesses that have demonstrated that economic performance and environmental and social performance go hand-in-hand.

A company may apply in the Sustainable Product, Sustainable Process or Sustainable Leadership award categories. In addition, small businesses will be competing only against other small businesses, and larger businesses will be competing only against other larger businesses.

Tom Eggert, Executive Director of the WI Sustainable Business Council said of the awards “We have companies in Wisconsin that are leaders in integrating principles of sustainability into strategy development and day-to-day operations. With these awards, we’ll be shining a light on some of the great accomplishments of these companies, and providing a library of case studies that others can learn from.” He goes on to add “Sustainable activity is becoming more and more mainstream, and these awards seek to bring product and process improvements out of the shadows so that customers and other stakeholders can recognize companies for the leaders that they are.”

The applications for the awards will close on March 31st. Additional information at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9fz1jDD3t4
