The Wisconsin Green Building Alliance celebrates green building and leaders in sustainability for existing buildings and new construction.
MILWAUKEE, WI FEBRUARY 24, 2014 – Today, the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance (WGBA) announced a call for nominations for the 2014 Sustainability and Energy Efficiency (Se2) Awards. The Se2 Awards recognize leadership in energy efficient and sustainable design, construction, and operation of Wisconsin commercial buildings and related systems. WGBA welcomes project teams from around the state to gain recognition for their efforts to make Wisconsin’s built environment more sustainable.

Winning projects receive visibility through press releases, website presence, and the awards ceremony. Past participants have enjoyed greater cooperation among building owners, designers, builders, and operators that collaborated to compile information required for entry.

Project teams are limited to two submissions each. Any building with sustainable features can be nominated and entries are not required to have LEED certification. The initial entry form and entry fee ($175) is due by Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 12:00 PM. Applicants have until August 8, 2014 to submit their full entry packet and supply supporting materials. The entry form and more details can be found at http://www.wgba.org/se2awards.

Teams can apply to two categories: new construction and existing buildings. For existing commercial buildings, buildings with modifications in the past two years or major renovations in the past five years are eligible. Also, existing multi-family buildings with sixteen unites or more, with a central plant. Teams are required to submit two years pre-renovation and one year post-renovation energy data with their full entry packet.

For new construction, newly constructed commercial buildings less than five years old are eligible. Also, multi-family buildings of sixteen units or more, with a central plant. Applicants must provide a minimum of one year of energy data for review with the full entry packet.

The Se2 awards have been held annually since 2003, initially created by a collaboration between WGBA, IES – Milwaukee/Madison Sections, ASHRAE Wisconsin, AIA Wisconsin, Focus on Energy, and the Energy Center of Wisconsin. The awards are administered by WGBA and projects are judged anonymously by a panel of highly experienced green building professionals. The Se2 awards have honored more than 30 buildings and project teams in Wisconsin. Past winners include:

Clock Shadow Building in Milwaukee, WI, submitted by Continuum Architects + Planners,
Wisconsin Energy Institute in Madison, WI, submitted by Mortenson Construction,
Glen Hills Middle School in Glendale, WI, submitted by Transwestern, and
City of Edgerton City Hall in Edgerton, WI, submitted by Eppstein Uhen Architects.

The awards ceremony will be held November 13, 2014, as part of a larger awards program. More details about the awards program will be released in early August.
